I'll be the first to tell you that I have never tried a drop shipper, but that is because supply is not a problem for me. I am fortunate enough to live in a city where thrift stores and shopping are plentiful. But, that is not the case for all sellers. In fact, eBay sellers may use a drop shipper for several reasons:
1) Access to inventory is a problem
2) Cash flow - no need to purchase inventory up front
3) Convenience - some sellers don't have the desire or time to ship the items
4) Inventory management - no inventory to store or purge later if unsold
5) Desire for a reliable source - not everyone enjoys the thrill of the hunt
6) Physical limitations - shopping may not be an option
7) Experimentation - sellers can try new products without having to buy them first
