eBay Listing With 81,000 + Hits - Creative Marketing

I came across this eBay listing that was circulating around the internet. The seller, a mom of 6 children, has used her creative writing skills to successfully market a package of Pokemon trading cards that one of her children allegedly put in the grocery cart and she unknowingly purchased. When I last checked, the price was at $103.

This counter on the listing shows 81,000 hits as of this writing. The "ask a seller a question" feature has been maxed out with 101 questions and comments.

The seller, Dawn, provides a link to her blog for further reading, and she reports that her blog had 11,000 (yes ELEVEN THOUSAND) hits on August 21 from all over the globe, people from 43 countries to be exacgt. Now, that is creative marketing and an example of viral marketing at its best. Her listing was featured on the site digg.com yesterday. Expect to hear something about this mom on TV news and on internet news websites. It looks as if she was just venting about her day, and not necessarily trying to be an eBay or internet sensation.

View Dawn's blog here (Be patient, it is very busy and takes a minute to load.)

Take a few minutes to read the listing and some of Dawn's blog posts - especially if you are a mom at home with kids. She tells it like it is.

Remember to check for new audio episodes this week, and come on over to the eBay Coach FREE Forum for some great eBay conversation.

Happy selling!
